Wet Plate Collodion Workshop

We have frequent workshops in alternative photographic processes. We take a maximum of six students for each workshop, or we can give individual one-to-one tuition.

Courses offered include Ambrotypes and Tintypes, contact printing Collodion negatives.

You will be shown by “hands-on” practice and using traditional equipment as well as modern cameras. We have a fully equipped darkroom plus a new mobile darkroom which makes it possible to get into the field and work.

The collodion, wet-plate workshop runs for two days and the fully inclusive cost of €525 (you can pay in pounds sterling or euro) which includes accommodation, meals, materials, use of equipment, workshop manual and all teaching time. You have a double room and can come with a partner for no extra charge, there is a supplement for the second person of €35 to cover extra meals (lunches and dinners) for the two days if they have full board although breakfasts are included

You can stay as long as you like and have free use of the darkroom and lab facilities – the workshop fee includes two days accommodation and all meals, for extra days our normal winter rates apply.

We have family accommodation available, so bring a friend and discover this wonderful region.

The two day residential course is designed for a group of six students.

Accommodation is included and students are welcome to bring friends or partners not attending the course. They have the option of staying in Villa Roquette for additional days, with full use of the equipment and services provided. A film darkroom area is available to guests for use after the workshop has finished and there is a range of photographic equipment available; students are welcome to bring their own large format camera if they wish.

The total price for the course, including two days’ tuition and accommodation, materials, use of equipment, meals and all services of Villa Roquette is €525 (payable in sterling or euro. Students staying longer or bringing friends or family pay only the (very reasonable) standard supplementary charges.

Delivered in English, this course covers the complete wet plate collodion syllabus, enriched by informal discussions over breakfast, lunch and the Saturday evening meal. Wonderful local food and wines are in unlimited supply for all. To add to this, the beautiful countryside, the Mediterranean, French farming villages and sunshine provide fantastic atmosphere as well as spectacular photographic subject-matter.
