Workshops

We are offering photo workshops in Villa Roquette where guest lecturers can use our facilities and equipment and share their expertise with small groups of students. We have built a suite of well equipped darkrooms and photo labs, so we can cover a wide range of techniques in all forms of expression, including:

Collodion/WetPlate

Calotype

Cyanotype

Carbon Transfer

Silver/Gelatine

The workshops run from 2 to 8 days, accommodation in Villa Roquette and the photo workshops are together, evening meals are stimulating and guests can use the lab facilities before or after the courses, staying as long as they like.

Our charges are the same as the standard prices at VillaRoquette, there is no extra charge for the darkroom or lab facilities and we only charge for materials used (if any).

The lecturers will charge for their workshop courses, these depend on the who and when. We can package the costs together, ask us when you are booking. The workshops are for small groups, typically from four to eight people, so let us know as soon as possible if there is something which interests you.

Students can come with their family or partners, who can enjoy a break. We offer a range of accommodation to suit all.

We run monthly workshops, contact us for details, also give individual tuition for a wide range of analogue photographic techniques.
A course is typically for two days and includes full board accommodation, two days practical hands-on experience, chemistry and literature. The inclusive price is from euro 525 – this includes accommodation for two people so you can come with your partner at no extra cost (this includes the course fees for one person, for lunch and evening meal if required for the second person there is a small supplement).

All equipment is available for students use, including our classic 19th century cameras and lenses up to 24cm x 30cm, full darkroom facilities are in-house. You can also use our modern studio cameras, even converted Polaroids if you wish.

Low cost flights to Beziers airport (20 minutes from us and we can pick you up) makes coming to the South of France cheaper than going to London from Manchester.

You don’t have to come only for two days, you can come and stay at Villa Roquette for a long as you like and the darkroom facilities are free to use for all guests – come earlier or stay longer.

As a bonus, we are in the centre of the largest wine producing area in the world.
