Warm and Snug in Languedoc

I am told that in some parts of Europe it is chilly today – well here in Villa Roquette, although the weather is mild(ish) we have our log fire blazing in the living room. Our guests come down to sit around the fire and chat, play cards and drink local wine. Wine, good company, a blazing fire (and a glass of wine, or did I mention that?) – life is good

The beauty of our log fire is that it costs nothing, all around us there are thousands of acres of vineyards, every year some are replanted so all the old vines are torn up and we can help ourselves. Yesterday we collected enough wood to keep the fire going for a year or more.

Rail travel in France is a pleasure – the TGV trains are famous for their efficiency and comfort – from the UK the Eurostar is direct from London to Paris and there are great deals at present, from only £59 return. – http://www.eurostar.com/

From Paris – the TGV will then speed you direct to the South of France and we will collect you from Agde station, just down the road from us, right by the Mediterranean.

Sending Luggage ahead.

I wrote in a recent newsletter about sending your suitcase and luggage ahead to avoid the huge charges airlines are imposing, plus you also avoid lugging baggage around terminal, unpacking for customs and possibly losing it on the carousels.

There are many companies offering this service – the big guys like FedEx and UPS, but other specialist firms are possibly more competitive, it is worth looking at alternatives and shopping around.
